Route Prague 1
Prague 1 still belongs to one of the most attractive parts of the whole Prague. Probably nowhere else you can find such a concentration of historic monuments and places where the history and romance of bygone times are all around you. Hardly anywhere you can stop and relax in numerous of beautiful trim gardens and well-kept parks. Hardly anywhere you can walk on the same paths where were walking Franz Kafka, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the Golem of Prague, Jaroslav Hasek or the boyish bunch from the Foglarovy rychly sipy (Foglarovy Fast Arrows).
Prague 1 is not only a place where you can find the crowds of tourists, but there are also streets with cracked facades, which live their quiet life till today and maybe it describes even more the charm of the old Prague.
The route through the Prague 1 will show you the most interesting places and sights in that area. The route forms a complete circle, and therefore it doesn’t matter where you will start your trip and which direction you will choose.
Where does the route lead to?
Generally, the route starts at the Republic Square – then continues to the Old Town Square – Jewish Town – Prague’s waterfront – across the Manes Bridge to the Lesser Town. You can decide if you want to go up to the Prague Castle and then back via Neruda street or go around the Wallenstein Palace to the Lesser Town Square. After that you can continue to the Kampa and back across the Charles Bridge along the waterfront to the National Theatre – through the Old Town Square to the Wenceslas Square and around the Jindrisska Tower and back to Republic Square.
What will you see?
Along the way you will meet the most important places and monuments of old Prague, where the history was created. Many of the places are well known, but some of them are unknown to many people. It could be a big surprise what everything Prague offers and at the same time what everything Prague hides.
The route is intentionally trying to avoid places that are crowded with tourists and offers places that are not so busy and also very interesting. You will not be deprived of places such as Old Town Square, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge. You will see places such as St. Agnes Convent, Prague Stinadla, Kampa, Maltese Square and also the narrow and winding streets of old Prague.
We hope that you will enjoy the whole educational route and you will spend nice and pleasant moments in our beautiful Golden City.
Warning:
At this moment it is only a virtual tour and it is not marked in the streets of the city. Please, use our map and articles that we have prepared for you about each monument.
