As midnight approaches, crowds gather around the city to watch one of several firework displays. The restaurants and river boats time their entertainment programmes to coincide with this, some even supplying bottles of Champagne for diners to take with them.
Broadly, there are two options for where to go for the fireworks. The first option is to head for anywhere that is on or overlooks the river. This means somewhere near to Charles Bridge, Prague Castle or on Petrin Hill. As well as on the streets, people gather on the terraces at the river restaurants and on the top decks of the river boats, which congregate around Charles Bridge. The atmosphere by the river is fun and relaxed, as people take in the beauty of fireworks over water, with the backdrop of Charles Bridge and Prague Castle.
